The Evolution of Latinwings
A Journey of Precision, Quality, and Innovation in Flight Simulation
The Inception
Latinwings was founded in Caracas, Venezuela, by Fabian De Gouveia. Driven by a passion for regional aviation, the studio established its first “HUB” in Caracas and launched its debut project: Barquisimeto X. This initial foray into scenery development was completed in just three months, marking the start of a new voice in the simulation market.
Global Projection
With the release of Barinas X, Latinwings entered a phase of rapid international expansion. Seeking to bring Venezuelan scenery to a wider audience, the studio began working on Valencia X and signed an exclusive partnership with Aerosoft GmbH for its global distribution, setting a higher standard for regional detail.
Standards of Excellence & Strategic Partnerships
In a bold move that prioritized quality over quantity, Latinwings made the strategic decision to retire Barquisimeto X and Barinas X from the market. This choice reflected the studio’s evolving internal standards and a commitment to only offering products that met the highest industry benchmarks.
During this period, with a partner established in Spain and the marketing support of Aerosoft—who provided merchandising and brand backing—Latinwings showcased its latest developments for the first time at an event in Soria. This collaboration, built on mutual trust, marked a significant step into the European simulation community.
Strategic Pivot & B2B Expansion
Following a corporate restructuring and the departure of a former partner, Latinwings transitioned into an independent path. While the studio paused the release of self-published retail products, operations remained fully active. Latinwings evolved into a specialized 3D Asset Studio, providing high-end technical art and infrastructure for other major simulation companies and industrial clients.
Industry Integration & The MSFS Era
With the announcement and arrival of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the demand for Fabian’s expertise reached a new peak. To focus on the technological leap of the new platform, Latinwings’ internal projects were placed on a temporary hiatus as Fabian was recruited by industry giants including Gaya Simulations, Aerosoft, and Orbx.
Legacy & Future
Today, the spirit of Latinwings remains alive through these high-level contributions to the world’s most advanced simulators, maintaining a legacy of technical excellence and creative passion.
